Online Poker Takes Hit In Rumored Government Spending Bill PDF Print E-mail
Friday, 16 December 2011 00:00

Over the past few months, there has been much debate surrounding whether or not the United States Congress will legalize the poker industry online. In the spring, the online betting industry took a significant hit as US Congress shutdown 10 major online gambling sites including PokerStars, DSI, and Bookmaker. While, DSI and Bookmaker have returned to servicing the US, PokerStars was one of many bookie software sites lobbying for the US Congress to allow them to come back to the US market.

In the next few days, we’ll be hearing from plenty of news outlets regarding the Government Spending Bill set to be introduced in January 2012. For NHL gambling enthusiasts, the Spending Bill is of great importance this time around, because there is a small chance that Congress will change their tune about online gambling, and will legalize it in some States. As we’ve seen in New York and New Jersey, plenty of advocates for anti-gambling laws, have suddenly changed their tune, seeing that online gambling can become a giant source of revenue, during these harsh economic times.

However, for every handful of Senators and Governors stating they feel that online gambling should be included in the Spending Bill in terms of taxation, the reality is, there is nearly 100 politicians against it. Theoretically, we could hear as early as today whether or not the government has passed the Spending Bill to remain in power. On the one hand, the online gambling industry could save the current government because it would allow for extra spending on various infrastructure ideas by the Democrats. Conversely, if the bill is not passed, the United States may have another election, as soon as September. By all accounts, the Democrats could still retain the seed.

New Jersey Looking To Legalize Gambling Bill PDF Print E-mail
Friday, 02 December 2011 00:00

The state of New Jersey has been met with plenty of intrigue from the bookie software industry over the last couple of months. In particular, New Jersey Governor Chris Christie has become a focal point, as he has changed his mind more often then a Prom Queen. That is to say, after initially backing a bill to legalize sports betting in New Jersey, Christie backed down and now has returned to being pro-legalization. Since we have no idea how long this will last, today we’ll be looking at why Governor Christie’s support of sports betting, could be a major statement in the war between the online NFL industry and the US Congress.

Christie’s support has been met with much support from casino and online website owners all over the United States. Alongside Christie is online gambling champion Senator Ray Lesniak of Elizabeth, New Jersey. Combined, the duo could be the first outside of Nevada to allow for gambling to be a part of the local economy. Considering, there are many boxing events at the Boardwalk Casino in New Jersey, it only makes sense that the Governor and Senator be on board with any possible rule changes.

December will be an important month for the online industry as a whole. Essentially, Christie and Lesniak are calling for a vote amongst the citizens to decide whether they would be comfortable with gambling or not. This along with a few measures in New York, could allow for gambling both in person and online to be legalized all along the Eastern Coast of the United States. Meaning to say, if half of the country is agreeing to legalize gambling, it may only be a matter of time before the other half of the country does so as well.

New Internet Gambling Bill? PDF Print E-mail
Friday, 18 November 2011 00:00

Yesterday, the online betting industry received major news from the New York Post. According to an article in the post, Jon Kyl and Harry Reid two Republican and Democrat politicians, are supposedly in discussions to create a new Internet Gambling Bill, which would legalize bookie software. Of the two politicians, the fact that Jon Kyl who was one of the main contributors to the 2006 Anti-Pirating and Gambling Act has loosened his stance is major news.

The original bill Kyl was apart of back in 2006 was considered watered down over the last five years. For those new to the situation, while many NFL betting sites were shutdown under the old legislation, many others were able to find loopholes around being shutdown. In theory, this new bill would be allowing sportsbooks to be charged by the government in a taxation of sorts. Thus indicating, that the Trillions of dollars being slashed across state budget lines, could be alternated with profits from gambling taxes.

Ideally, with new also recently breaking that the online poker industry may be legalized in the United States, more jobs can be created. Despite Kyl and Reid being the McCarthy’s of the modern era, it seems as though they are more in tune with the times, then the man they are compared too. In laymen’s terms, the loosening of stances by Kyl and Reid is progress in the battle between industry and state.

Continuing with the New York Post article, according to another source within the article, there is a 50 percent chance that this new bill could be passed as early as the next session in Congress. In turn, many of the online betting sites recently shut down by the US Department of Justice back in May, could be operational again by January.

Jags Release Of Garrard Suggests Del Rio On Final String PDF Print E-mail
Thursday, 08 September 2011 00:53

After going an impressive eight and eight during the 2010 fishing games NFL season, the Jacksonville Jaguars have shocked their fans heading into the 2011 season. On Tuesday September 6, 2011 Jaguars Head Coach Jack Del Rio released starting quarterback David Garrard, in an attempt to spark lightning in a bottle for the Jaguars as they head into a season filled with uncertainty. The last time Del Rio released his starting quarterback, was when he NFL betting lines released Byron Leftwich in 2007. That season, the now released Garrard led the Jaguars to an 11 and five record and playoff appearance. They haven’t been back since.

The release of quarterback David Garrard yesterday, indicates a few major issues with Jacksonville. Firstly, with Garrard out the door, the question now becomes, how long until Head Coach Jack Del Rio is also shown the door? Secondly, Del Rio made the case that he wanted to open up the offense, with more of a pass mentality verses the run, meaning to say was that why Garrard was shown the door? Thirdly, although Luke McCown is the quarterback now, how desperate will Del Rio get before he calls upon highly touted first round draft pick Blaine Gabbert, to move under center?

Despite finishing eight and eight last season, the Jacksonville Jaguars were not a good football team. Looking primarily at the Jags point differentials, the team should have actually gone an underwhelming six and nine in 2010. Secondly, as we mentioned earlier, Del Rio stated he wanted to open up the offense more this season. In our opinion, Del Rio’s hand was forced with management, as a result of the knee injuries to running backs Maurice Jones Drew and Rashad Jennings. If neither back gets injured, Garrard still has a job, and Del Rio is the one out the door.

Why Most Bettors Lose PDF Print E-mail
Thursday, 28 July 2011 01:07

Annually over a million people travel to casinos or participate in online betting. However, of those millions of people only a few thousand ever make a real profit gambling on their favorite teams. Today we will look at why most bettors sports betting lose often and win sparingly.

Money Management – When it comes to losing a lot of money at the casino, three words depict your situation perfectly, poor money management. As the name suggests, money management is a term used to describe the money you have budgeted to risk at the casino either on your favorite games or sporting events. For the most part, people who lose, exercise poor money management, as they elect to risk more than they can actually afford.

Simply put, to avoid losing money, don’t risk what you can’t afford. What we like to do, is calculate a percentage of our budget used for sports betting, and then play within that percentage. Essentially all winning wagers go back into the budget, and you continue to play with what remains of the percentage.

Lack of Knowledge on Games – Aside from poor money management, the leading issue to why most bettors lose, is that they don’t handicap the games they are betting on properly. For the reason that most casual bettors just like to pick the team with the cool name or star player, and not look at the team’s win loss record or performance history, they lose money.

In order to avoid falling into this category, make some time to review each team in each game and then you can make an educated guess on which team will win the match. If you still lose your bet, it won’t be because you didn’t handicap properly, but rather the team just couldn’t get the job done.
